Hostinger Review: 90 Days of Real Usage (2026 Test Results)
Hostinger sells web hosting from $2.99 a month and says more than 5 million people use it. Hosting that cheap usually hides a catch, so I went looking for it.
This Hostinger review is based on 90 days of real usage on a live WordPress site. I tracked uptime, speed, support and what the plan really costs once the discount ends.
Speed is not a vanity metric. Google’s research found that 53% of mobile visits are abandoned when a page takes longer than three seconds to load.
Quick Verdict★★★★½4.5 / 5
Fast and cheap to start, pricey to renew
Hostinger gives you LiteSpeed servers, a clean control panel and 24/7 chat support for the price of a coffee. The trade off is a four year commitment and a renewal bill that more than triples.
Best for
Beginners, bloggers and small businesses who want fast WordPress hosting and can commit long term.
Skip it if
You want month to month billing, phone support, or a price that stays flat at renewal.

What is Hostinger?
Hostinger is a web hosting company that has been online since 2004. It sells shared, cloud, VPS and managed WordPress hosting, plus domains, email and an AI website builder.
It sits at the budget end of the market, but the hardware is not budget. Plans run on LiteSpeed web servers with a built in CDN, and the company is listed on the official WordPress.org recommended hosting page.
Instead of cPanel, you manage everything in hPanel, Hostinger’s own dashboard. That matters more than it sounds, and I cover it below.

How I tested Hostinger for 90 days
I bought a plan with my own money and set up one WordPress site. Then I left an uptime monitor checking it around the clock for 90 days.
A 90 day window is 2,160 hours. Hostinger’s 99.9% uptime guarantee allows roughly 2 hours and 10 minutes of downtime in that period, so that was my pass mark.
For speed, this Hostinger review uses Google’s own thresholds. A good Time to First Byte is 0.8 seconds or less, and a good Largest Contentful Paint is 2.5 seconds or less.
Editor note (delete before publishing): [VINCENCIA: state your exact setup in 2 sentences. Which plan, which data centre, which theme and plugins, which monitoring tool and check interval, and the start and end dates of the 90 days.]

Hostinger pricing in 2026
Hostinger has three main web hosting plans. The prices below are for the 48 month term, checked on Hostinger’s pricing page in October 2026.
| Plan | Intro price | Renews at | Paid upfront | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | $2.99 / month | $10.99 / month | $143.52 | 3 websites, 20 GB SSD, weekly backups |
| Unlimited | $3.99 / month | $16.99 / month | $191.52 | Unlimited websites, 50 GB NVMe, daily backups |
| Cloud Startup | $7.99 / month | $25.99 / month | $383.52 | Unlimited websites, 100 GB NVMe, daily and on demand backups |
The Unlimited plan is the one older reviews call Business. All three include a free domain for the first year, free SSL and a CDN.
Watch the hidden costs
The headline price is real, but it comes with conditions. Four things catch people out:
- Renewals jump hard. Premium rises 268%, Unlimited rises 326% and Cloud Startup rises 225% when the first term ends.
- You pay for four years upfront. The $2.99 rate only applies to the 48 month term, so the real checkout total is $143.52.
- Some freebies expire. The free domain and the free mailboxes are free for one year, then billed.
- Tax is extra. Listed prices exclude VAT, so your final total may be higher.
My take: Unlimited is the sweet spot. One extra dollar a month buys NVMe storage, daily backups and unlimited sites.
Key features (and how they held up)
Uptime
Hostinger guarantees 99.9% uptime. That sounds perfect, but it still permits about 43 minutes of downtime a month, or close to 9 hours a year.
Independent testers report better than the guarantee. Cybernews logged 100% uptime in its 2026 monitoring window, and Hostinger publishes live incidents on its status page.

Editor note (delete before publishing): [VINCENCIA: write 2 sentences on what actually happened. How many outages, how long the longest one lasted, and whether you noticed it before the monitor did.]
Speed
Speed is where Hostinger earns its reputation. Every plan uses LiteSpeed servers with a CDN and object caching, and the two higher plans add NVMe storage.
It pays off for readers. Google found the chance of a mobile visitor bouncing rises 113% as load time goes from one second to seven.
For a wider data set, see my Bluehost vs Hostinger speed and uptime test. Independent testers there put Hostinger’s average server response at 230 to 246 ms.

Editor note (delete before publishing): [VINCENCIA: write 2 sentences on your speed results. Give the response time and LCP you measured, and say whether you changed any caching settings to get there.]
hPanel and ease of use
hPanel replaces cPanel, and it is easier for beginners. Domains, email, SSL, backups and the WordPress installer all sit in one clean menu.
The downside is familiarity. If you have years of cPanel habits, expect a short adjustment period.
Editor note (delete before publishing): [VINCENCIA: write 2 sentences on setup. How long it took from payment to a live WordPress site, and one thing in hPanel that confused you or impressed you.]
Customer support
Support runs 24/7 through live chat and email. There is no phone line, which will bother some buyers.
Editor note (delete before publishing): [VINCENCIA: write 2 sentences on a real support chat. What you asked, how long the first reply took, and whether the agent solved it.]
Backups, security and migration
Every plan includes free SSL, malware scanning and domain privacy. Backups are weekly on Premium and daily on Unlimited and Cloud Startup.
Moving an existing site is free and unlimited. Hostinger’s team handles the transfer, and you can also do it yourself in hPanel.
Hostinger pros and cons
What I liked
- Very low intro pricing from $2.99 a month
- LiteSpeed servers and a CDN on every plan
- hPanel is clean and beginner friendly
- Free domain, SSL and site migration
- 30 day money back guarantee
What frustrated me
- Renewal prices rise 225% to 326%
- Best price needs 48 months paid upfront
- No phone support
- Premium has only weekly backups and 20 GB SSD
- Free mailboxes and domain last one year only
Who should use Hostinger?
It is a great fit if you: are launching a blog, portfolio or small business site, use WordPress, and want fast hosting at the lowest long term cost.
Look elsewhere if you: want to pay monthly, need phone support, or dislike locking in for four years.
Once your site is live, you will need an email tool to turn visitors into subscribers. Start with my best free email marketing tools or the MailerLite review.

Hostinger review: the bottom line
After 90 days, Hostinger delivers what most small sites need: quick pages, a simple dashboard and helpful chat support. The price is hard to beat for the first four years.
The honest caveat is the renewal. Go in knowing the bill will more than triple, and use the 30 day guarantee to test it on your own site first.Try Hostinger risk free →
