Quick answer

Kit (formerly ConvertKit) is free for up to 10,000 subscribers. Paid plans start at $39 a month for Creator and $79 a month for Pro, billed monthly at 1,000 subscribers.

Paying yearly saves about 17%, which brings Creator down to $33 a month. Your price rises with subscriber count, not with how many emails you send.

Kit Creator cost by list size

This is where most people get surprised. The price you see on the pricing page is for 1,000 subscribers, and it climbs as your list grows.

1,000$39$33$390$78

15,000$169$141$1,690$338

Yearly saving = 12 monthly payments minus the yearly price. Source: kit.com/pricing, 29 October 2026.

The good news is that each subscriber gets cheaper as you grow. On yearly billing, Creator works out to about 3.3 cents per subscriber a month at 1,000 subscribers, and about 1.2 cents at 10,000.

Pro follows the same pattern. At 10,000 subscribers it costs $189 a month on monthly billing.

What Kit’s free plan includes

Kit’s free plan is the most generous in email marketing by subscriber count. It covers up to 10,000 subscribers, where many rivals stop at 250 or 500 (see our Kit free plan review).

  • Unlimited landing pages and opt-in forms
  • Unlimited email broadcasts
  • Audience tagging and segmentation
  • Selling digital products and subscriptions

The catch is automation. Visual automations and email sequences, such as a welcome series, only arrive on Creator.

Rule of thumb: if you only send a weekly newsletter, stay on Free as long as you can. The day you want a welcome sequence or a sales funnel, Creator is the upgrade that pays for itself.

Kit Creator vs Pro: what the extra money buys

Most people

Creator

  • Unlimited visual automations and sequences
  • A/B test subject lines
  • Polls, RSS campaigns and SMS marketing
  • Apps and integrations

Pro

  • Everything in Creator
  • Unlimited users and collaborative editing
  • Deliverability reporting and engagement scoring

How to pay less for Kit

  1. Stay on Free until you need automation. Broadcasts, forms and landing pages are already unlimited.
  2. Pay yearly. It saves about 17%, worth $278 a year at 10,000 subscribers.
  3. Clean your list. Kit only bills for unique, active subscribers, so removing dead contacts can drop you a tier.
  4. Use the free migration. Kit moves your list from another platform at no cost.
  5. Read the Pro promo terms. First-year discounts renew at the full price.

Which Kit plan should you choose?

Choose Free if
  • You send newsletters but no automated sequences
  • Your list is under 10,000
  • You are testing whether email works for you
Choose Creator if
  • You want a welcome sequence or sales funnel
  • You sell courses or digital products by email
  • You need integrations with your other tools

Choose Pro only when you have a team or need deliverability reporting. For most solo creators, Creator is the sweet spot.

Our verdict on Kit pricing

Kit is not the cheapest email tool, but its free plan is the best value in the market for growing a list. Start free, upgrade to Creator when automation will make you money, and pay yearly once you are sure.
